Valentina Matviyenko, The Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, stressed that Moscow is open to negotiations with Kyiv, but Ukraine must accept Russia's terms.

"Russia is ready for negotiations today, but it is not a show. We do not gossip here. The conditions that we set clearly and precisely must be accepted," Matviyenko said in a statement to the Belarusian STV channel.

She added that the West was not interested in Russia's negotiations with Ukraine from the start, even though Moscow did not leave it.

On Financial sanctions against Russia and Belarus, Matvienko noted that she saw what happened without trial and without investigation, Russia's reserves are frozen, and the accounts of Russians and Belarusians abroad are frozen on ethnic grounds, describing it as discrimination and genocide.

Western countries imposed unprecedented sanctions on Russia due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, targeting the financial and economic sectors, and Russian aviation.

US President Joe Biden announced, officially, the agreement of the US and the G7 to ban the import of Russian gold, which is the country's second-largest export after energy.

Biden said the unprecedented decisions were aimed at depriving Russian President Vladimir Putin of the revenue he needs to fund his war against Ukraine.

A US official considered that the steps taken regarding gold are an important example of the decisions that the G7 can take to isolate Russia from the global economy.

The ban on the import of Russian gold is scheduled to be implemented soon, and it will apply to newly mined gold, according to Reuters.
