Director of First Asian Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ivan Gilokhovotstev, announced that his country is coordinating with North Korea through diplomatic channels for a visit by President Vladimir Putin to Pyongyang.
Gilokhovotstev told Sputnik News that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un invited Putin to visit Pyongyang during a summit held at the Vostochny Space Launch Center in September 2023.
He added that the invitation was reiterated during the recent visit of North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui to Russia.
Moroever, Gilokhovotstev said that the specific dates for the visit will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had previously announced that Putin's visit to North Korea would not take place before the end of March.
