The press service of the Planetarium Center in Moscow announced today, that Russia and some countries of the world will witness the peak of the distinctive lionel meteor shower.

A statement issued by the service said: "On November 17, people in Russia and some countries of the world will be able to see the phenomenon of meteors clearly because the conditions will be good to watch it well since the moonlight will not affect the intensity of the phenomenon."

The statement added: "The moon will be  below the horizon line and will not affect watching the phenomenon."

"This year people may be able to see 15-20 meteors falling per hour. Leo meteors are bright and fast, and their speed reaches 71 km."

The statement indicated that the rate of the meteorites that can be observed during this phenomenon varies from year to year and that scientists expect that in the next ten years this rate will be between 15 to 20 meteorites appearing in the sky every hour.

The aforementioned phenomenon was called the "Leonids" meteor shower phenomenon, because it is similar in its clarity to the phenomena of the meteor shower in the constellation Leo, or what is known as Leo.
