Moments ago, Russia has expressed concern about reports on the transfer of fighters from illegal armed groups to the conflict zone in the Karabakh region.

The Media and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement: "We are deeply concerned about these processes that not only lead to a further escalation of tension in the conflict, but also create long-term threats to the security of all countries in the region."

The statement added: "We call on the leadership of the countries concerned to take effective measures to prevent the use of terrorists and foreign mercenaries in the conflict and their immediate withdrawal from the region."

The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that according to the information received, fighters of illegal armed groups, especially from Syria and Libya, are being transferred to the Nagorno Karabakh battle zone, in order to directly participate in armed confrontations.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, called during separate telephone conversations with his Azerbaijani counterparts, Zhon Bayramov and Armenian, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, for an immediate ceasefire.

Earlier yesterday, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, confirmed, that about 4000 mercenaries were sent by Turkey to participate in the hostilities in the Karabakh region, and who are currently on the territory of Azerbaijan.
