Russia Comments on Jordan's Latest Developments

Russian president’s special envoy for the Middle East and African counties and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Monday that his country supports stable development in Jordan.

 

"We stand for stability and safety, this is a traditionally friendly country. So we wish it prosperity and stable conditions for socioeconomic development of the kingdom," Bogdanov told reporters, commenting on latest developments in Jordan.

 

"We enjoy very kind relations with Amman in general and with King Abdullah II," Bogdanov added.

It is worth mentioning that, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Jordan, Major General Yousef Ahmed Al Hunaiti, confirmed today, Saturday, that Prince Hamzah bin Al-Hussein was asked to stop “movements and activities that aim to target Jordan’s security.”

 

Jordan News Agency reported in a statement, that “the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Ahmed Al Hunaiti, confirmed today, Saturday, that allegations published about the arrest of Prince Hamzah are baseless, but he indicated that the prince was asked to stop the movements and activities that are used to target the security and stability of Jordan.”

 

Major General Al-Huneiti said: “investigations are still ongoing,” stressing that “all measures were taken within the framework of the law. “No one is above the law and Jordan’s security and stability are above all.”
