Alexey Polishchuk, Director of the Second CIS Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced that Russia remains open to continuing dialogue with Ukraine in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
"We remain open to continuing the dialogue and highly appreciate the hospitality shown by Türkiye," Polishchuk stated.
Moreover, he pointed out that in 2025, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the suspension of negotiations in Istanbul, alleging a lack of "tangible progress."
"This seems far-fetched, as Kyiv has not responded since July 2025 to our proposals regarding the establishment of a bilateral ceasefire monitoring and control center, nor has it shown any response to our readiness to raise the level of delegations... In short, the ball is in Ukraine's court," Polishchuk continued.
This statement comes as the Abu Dhabi negotiations commenced yesterday, Friday. Following the first day, a U.S. administration official told NBC News that the meeting was "productive."
Volodymyr Zelensky also stated yesterday that the Abu Dhabi meeting discussed the "parameters for ending the conflict" currently ongoing in Ukraine.
