Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo was recalled to the squad of Al Nassr for their upcoming clash against Al Fateh in Round 22 of the Saudi Pro League.
According to Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah, head coach Jorge Jesus has included Ronaldo in the matchday squad after the forward missed Al Nassr’s previous two league matches against Al Riyadh and Al Ittihad.
Ronaldo’s absence reportedly came amid dissatisfaction over the club’s transfer activity compared to their traditional rivals, Al Hilal.
Jesus has selected nine foreign players alongside Ronaldo: Brazilian goalkeeper Bento, Portuguese forward João Félix, French winger Kingsley Coman, Senegalese star Sadio Mané, Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozović, Spanish defender Iñigo Martínez, French defender Mohamed Simakan, and Brazilian winger Ângelo.
However, one of Bento or Ângelo is expected to be left out following the pre-match technical meeting in order to comply with Saudi Arabian Football Federation regulations, which allow only eight foreign players to be included in the official match squad.
The list also marks the return of international goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi, while Iraqi player Haider Abdul Karim and Saad Al-Nasser have been omitted from the fixture.
Al Nassr enter the match sitting second in the league table with 49 points ahead of the round, aiming to extend their run of five consecutive victories as they continue to chase top spot in the Saudi Pro League standings.
