Renowned Italian journalist and transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano revealed new details regarding Mohamed Salah’s recent exclusion from Liverpool’s travelling squad to Milan ahead of their Champions League match against Inter on Tuesday.

According to Romano, Liverpool’s management and Dutch head coach Arne Slot mutually agreed that Salah would remain absent for a “short period” following the strong comments he made in recent days.

Romano confirmed on his X (formerly Twitter) account that the decision was taken to ease tensions and stabilise the team environment.

Sky Sports reported that Liverpool fully supports Slot’s handling of the situation, emphasising the importance of maintaining harmony inside the dressing room.

Despite Salah taking part in today’s training session as normal, the club plans for him to rejoin the squad immediately after the Inter match.

Salah recently sparked controversy after being benched in several matches, which led him to publicly criticise the club’s management and coaching staff.

He expressed frustration with how he was being treated and acknowledged clear tension between himself and manager Arne Slot.

Despite the dispute, The Athletic noted that Salah still holds significant respect within the Liverpool dressing room.

However, his teammates were reportedly unsurprised by his reaction to being left out of the Leeds United matchday squad, observing that his mood had noticeably shifted since then.
