Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi suspended Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe from training after a heated dressing-room clash that erupted following the club’s Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, Sport Bible reported on Tuesday.
Marseille fell 1-0 to Rennes on Friday night, conceding in stoppage time despite playing against ten men for over an hour.
Tensions boiled over after the match, when Rabiot and Rowe exchanged insults and reportedly came to blows.
According to La Provence, Rowe slapped Rabiot during the altercation, believing he had been singled out by the midfielder’s comments.
The ugly incident, which occurred around 11 p.m., forced teammates and staff to intervene.
De Zerbi, known for his strict discipline, responded by banning both players from training.
French outlet L’Equipe reports they were formally suspended on Monday and absent from Tuesday’s session.
Sources close to the club suggest that neither player has a future under De Zerbi, with Marseille now open to selling if suitable offers arrive.

Rabiot’s mother and agent, Veronique, was informed of the decision by club general secretary Benjamin Arnaud, but has yet to receive clarification from sporting director Medhi Benatia.
Rabiot, formerly of Juventus and PSG, is said to have admirers at AC Milan, where Max Allegri remains keen on a reunion.
Rowe, who shone for England at the U21 Euros and joined Marseille from Norwich City on a loan-to-buy deal this summer, also faces an uncertain future.
Reports from Foot Mercato and RMC indicate strong interest from Serie A clubs Bologna and Roma, while newly-promoted Sunderland are eyeing a sensational Premier League return for the 22-year-old winger.
Marseille, who are already under pressure after their disappointing league start, face Paris FC on Saturday in their next Ligue 1 clash.
