CAIRO,
Dec. 19 (SEE) - The Egyptian-German professor at Hannover University Victor
Rizkallah said that graduates of engineering universities in Germany get
certificates equivalent to Master degrees from the Egyptian engineering
universities.
In
statements to SEE, Rizkallah, who was partaking in 'Egypt Can' Conference, held
in Hurghada, noted that the graduates of the German universities have the right
to join the syndicate but they aren't allowed to practice engineering
calculations.
"The graduates, after five years,
conduct a test to get a license to practice engineering calculations. After 10
years, he could be an engineering advisor," the former president of the
Germany Federal Chamber of Engineers pointed out.
Regarding
being elected as a member of the Egyptian Advisory Council of Scientists and
Experts, Rizkallah pointed out that he submitted various suggestions in the
fields of transport, education, health, and management.
He
underscored that Egypt suffers from overpopulation, saying that the state needs
56,000 classes every year to accommodate the increasing number of students.
After
receiving his doctorate from Leibniz Universität Hannover in 1968, he got a
professorship for foundation engineering and soil mechanics at the University
of Hanover in 1978. From 1981 to 1982 he was dean of the Department of Civil
Engineering and Surveying, from 1981 to 2001 Electoral Senator of the
University of Hannover and from 1982 to 2002 Chairman of the International
Commission for Higher Education. From 1982 to 1984 he served as vice president
of his university.
Rizkallah
has published more than 100 articles in national and international journals and
supervised more than 300 diploma theses. He also established his own foundation
titled "Victor-Rizkallah Foundation" in 1994 which honors the best
ten graduates in Germany.
He
also was awarded by Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany that is
given by the German president for his contributions in 50 years.
