Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is set to leave the club this summer, bringing an end to one of the most successful managerial eras in Premier League history, according to multiple reports.
The Spanish coach, who joined City in 2016, is expected to depart after guiding the club through a decade defined by domestic dominance and European success, including six Premier League titles and the club’s first UEFA Champions League triumph in 2023.
Guardiola has reportedly collected 20 major trophies during his tenure at the Etihad Stadium, with his most recent successes including the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup in the 2025–26 season.
Former Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is widely expected to succeed Guardiola. Maresca, who previously worked within Manchester City’s coaching structure as an assistant and academy manager, returned to the club’s orbit after spells at Leicester City and Chelsea, where he guided the team to European qualification and won both the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.
His appointment would mark a return to familiar surroundings, having been part of Guardiola’s backroom staff earlier in his career.
Guardiola’s departure is expected after City’s final league fixtures against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, with the club still competing for the Premier League title this season.
During his reign, Guardiola transformed Manchester City into one of the most dominant forces in European football, reshaping the club’s identity with a possession-based, tactical style that influenced teams across all levels of the game.
City officials have not yet formally confirmed the managerial change.
