The Saudi Pro League is reportedly preparing a new wave of high-profile signings after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé emerging as a primary target.

According to Sky Sports, Saudi football officials have identified the French winger, and reigning Ballon d’Or winner, as a potential marquee name to headline the next phase of the league’s long-term investment strategy.

Initial contacts are said to have already taken place to explore the feasibility of a move in 2026.

The report suggests that this planned transfer drive will follow the conclusion of the World Cup, marking a transition from the league’s first major recruitment phase, which saw the arrivals of global stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, and Riyad Mahrez.

With several of those players nearing the end of their contracts, Saudi decision-makers are now looking to redefine the league’s global image with a new generation of elite talent.

British media reports indicate that Dembélé is currently fully focused on his commitments with Paris Saint-Germain and the French national team.

His immediate objectives include competing for domestic titles and the UEFA Champions League, as well as preparing for the World Cup, with discussions over his long-term future expected to be deferred until after the tournament.

Dembélé remains under contract with PSG until the summer of 2028, and the club is reportedly keen on extending his deal.

However, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reiterated the club’s adherence to a structured wage policy, stressing that collective stability takes precedence over individual negotiations.

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol described the potential transfer as “the biggest since Cristiano Ronaldo’s move,” underlining the scale of Saudi Arabia’s ambitions as it continues to position itself as a major force in global football.
