Italian giants and Seria A title holders Napoli sacked their coach Walter Mazzarri to be the second sacked coach by the Seria A side in the same season, Italian media reported on Monday.
Mazzarri was sacked a few hours before Napoli's game against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. The game will take place tomorrow.
Slovakia national team coach Francesco Calzona will be appointed for the position until the end of the season and will be in charge in the first leg of the clash against Barcelona.
Calzona, who led Slovakia to Euro 2024, will reportedly keep his job with Slovakia during coaching Napoli. It is expected that he will bring with him Marek Hamsik, Napoli's top all-time appearance maker and the first man to beat Diego Maradona's scoring record for the club.
Napoli stand ninth on the table of Seria A with 36 points.
