Reports: Messi Edges Closer to New Inter Miami Contract

Football legend Lionel Messi is reportedly close to signing a contract extension with Inter Miami, potentially keeping him at the club until the end of the 2027 MLS season.

At 38, the Argentine superstar is showing no signs of slowing down, with trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano confirming that talks are in advanced stages. 

The new deal would see Messi continue leading the club’s ambitious project both on and off the pitch, and possibly playing until the age of 40.

According to SPOX, citing Romano, negotiations between Messi and Inter Miami’s management have reached advanced stages, with both parties eager to continue the sporting project that began about two years ago.

Romano stated in remarks reported by the website: “Lionel Messi is expected to remain at Inter Miami, and the new agreement is close to being signed, with final details currently being discussed.”

During the past MLS season, Messi delivered a stellar performance, scoring 29 goals and providing 16 assists in 28 matches, leading his team to qualify for the MLS Playoffs. 

Inter Miami will face Nashville in the first match of the “Best of 3” series this coming Friday.

Messi joined Inter Miami in the summer of 2023 after stints with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, opening a new chapter in his professional career in the American league , a move described as a new phase in the legacy of the player who has won 8 Ballon d'Or titles.
