A group of Manchester United supporters are preparing to stage a protest against the club’s owners, accusing them of turning one of football’s most storied institutions into what they describe as a circus.

The protest is being organized by the 1958 Group, which led major demonstrations against the club’s ownership last year and attracted thousands of fans.

Although the group previously canceled plans to protest ahead of a match, growing dissatisfaction has prompted a renewed call to action.

According to the BBC, anger toward Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of Manchester United’s owners, has intensified in recent weeks, particularly following the decision to dismiss head coach Ruben Amorim.

The move has been widely criticized by the fanbase, who see it as another example of instability and poor decision-making at the club.

In response, the group has called for a protest ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League match against Fulham, scheduled for February 1.

In an official statement, the group accused Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe of turning United into a “circus” days after.

A 1958 spokesperson said, “After lurching from one disaster to another Ratcliffe comes across as an incompetent clown turning the club into a circus.

It also took aim at director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada.

“Instead of being the best in class, we are a laughing stock. It has been an extraordinary and deeply troubling few days at Manchester United.

“On the pitch, we are watching mediocre performances from an average team drifting without identity, direction, or ambition. Off it, the chaos is even worse.”

The group made it clear that their stance is not a defense of Amorim or the football played under his leadership, admitting that much of the team’s performances were unacceptable.

It added, “A manager has reportedly been dismissed not primarily for abject performances against Grimsby, Everton, West Ham, and Wolves, but allegedly for a heated exchange with Jason Wilcox.

“Wilcox a man with just nine months’ experience as a Director of Football at Southampton is said to have attempted to interfere tactically, despite the club hiring Ruben fully aware of his rigid system. The situation beggar’s belief.”

The statement continued: “This decision was allegedly endorsed by Omar Berrada, a CEO with no prior experience in the role, listening to the complaints of a close ally rather than exercising independent leadership.

“We are once again witnessing Manchester United being run by executives learning on the job, at the expense of results, stability, and credibility.

“We call for a vote of no confidence in the ownership, Berrada and Wilcox.”

A spokesperson added: “This is not a defence of Ruben or the football served up under him. Much of it was unacceptable.

“But his dismissal once again exposes the continued dysfunction at our club.

“United is now a toxic partnership where fans are getting the worst of both worlds.

However, they argued that his dismissal once again exposes the ongoing dysfunction within the club.

In the same context, many Man United supporters displayed anti-Ratcliffe banners at Turf Moor on Wednesday before United’s 2-2 draw with Burnley, while chants targeting co-owner Joel Glazer were also heard inside the stadium.
