Croatian veteran Luka Modrić is set to continue his journey with AC Milan after agreeing to extend his contract for another season, according to reports from Italy.

Italian outlet Football Italia, citing Croatian sources, reported that the 40-year-old has made the decision to remain with the Rossoneri and is expected to sign a new one-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2027.

The report adds that the official announcement and completion of the extension are expected later this week.

Modrić's original contract, signed when he joined Milan from Real Madrid in the summer of 2025, was due to expire on June 30, 2026, with an option to extend for an additional season.

According to the reports, the Croatian midfielder will continue under nearly identical financial terms, earning a net salary of €3.5 million per season, in addition to performance-related bonuses.

The decision comes after weeks of speculation regarding Modrić's future, with Milan's management waiting for the midfielder to make a final decision on whether to continue his playing career.

Earlier reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested that new head coach Rúben Amorim played a significant role in convincing the former Ballon d'Or winner to remain at San Siro for another campaign.

Modrić enjoyed a solid first season with Milan, making 37 appearances across all competitions while contributing two goals and three assists as the Rossoneri secured a return to the UEFA Champions League.
