According to Foot Mercato, AC Milan have submitted an official offer to Crystal Palace in an attempt to sign French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta during the ongoing January transfer window.
The report confirmed that Crystal Palace have rejected the Rossoneri’s proposal, as the Premier League side are keen to retain their top scorer and are unwilling to part ways with him unless a substantial financial offer is made.
Despite Palace’s stance, Foot Mercato revealed that Mateta has already reached a personal agreement with AC Milan regarding a potential move to San Siro this winter.
The French forward has featured in 33 matches across all competitions this season for Crystal Palace, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists.
Mateta has previously represented several clubs during his career, including Lyon, Le Havre, and German side Mainz, before joining Crystal Palace.
Earlier media reports indicated that Mateta turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League, preferring to remain in Europe.
His priority is either a transfer to Serie A, amid interest from Juventus and AC Milan, or staying in the Premier League, as he aims to secure a place in France’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
