English media reports suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo’s career as a football player could come to an end after the 2026/27 season.

A move that would draw the curtain on the journey of one of football’s greatest-ever players.

The Portuguese star is currently with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

According to British outlet talkSPORT, current indicators point toward Ronaldo’s potential departure from Al Nassr in the summer of 2027, with a strong likelihood that he may opt for full retirement after more than two decades at the highest level of the game in Europe and beyond.

The report added that officials within the Saudi Pro League are already considering several future scenarios in anticipation of Ronaldo’s eventual exit, even if his contract were to be extended for an additional season.

The aim, according to the report, is to prevent any decline in global interest and momentum surrounding the league once the Portuguese icon leaves the pitch.

Among the proposed options to maintain Ronaldo’s connection to Saudi football is an increase in his ownership stake in Al Nassr.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is believed to currently hold an estimated 15% share in the club, a move that could allow him to remain an influential figure within the Saudi sporting landscape even after retiring as a player.

Ronaldo, who is approaching 41 years of age, joined Al Nassr in January 2023 on a free transfer.

Since then, he posted impressive numbers, featuring in 125 official matches, scoring 110 goals and providing 22 assists.

During his time with the club, Ronaldo has helped Al Nassr secure the Arab Club Champions Cup, though further major titles have so far eluded the team.
