Andrea Pirlo is set to become the new head coach of the Italian national football team after agreeing to take charge of the Azzurri until 2030.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 47-year-old will sign a four-year contract worth €1.5 million ($1.63 million) per year, with an official announcement expected in the coming hours.
Pirlo reportedly emerged as the Italian Football Federation's preferred choice after Pep Guardiola declined the opportunity to lead the national team.
The former Italy midfield maestro has been managing Dubai United since 2025. His coaching career has also included spells with Juventus, Turkish side Fatih Karagümrük, and Sampdoria.
The appointment marks a new chapter for Italy as Pirlo prepares to lead the four-time world champions into the next international cycle, with the 2030 FIFA World Cup set as the long-term target.
