AC Milan are reportedly close to appointing a new head coach following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri earlier this week.
Allegri’s departure came as part of a major restructuring at the club after Milan failed to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Milan have already reached a preliminary agreement with Spanish coach Andoni Iraola regarding contract terms and salary.
However, Iraola is said to be seeking further details about the club’s long-term sporting project, transfer plans, and the budget available for the upcoming summer window before making a final decision.
The report also noted that Milan face competition for the Spanish manager, with both Crystal Palace F.C. and Bayer 04 Leverkusen also showing strong interest in appointing him.
Due to the club’s absence from next season’s Champions League, Milan are expected to operate under financial restrictions this summer and may only be able to spend between €30 million and €35 million on new signings.
Despite the limitations, the club is reportedly planning a two-year rebuilding strategy that would allow for increased investment in the transfer market next year.
