Tunisia and Algeria did not allow the 1st Tel Aviv-Rabat flight to pass through their airspace, forcing it to take an indirect route through Europe, Russia Today (RT) reported, according to different media outlets.

Tunisian TV channel "Nessma" said that the flight took a northern route that passes through the Mediterranean Sea, reaching the Moroccan capital, as Tunisia and Algeria closed their airspace to the Israeli aircraft.

In addition, the Algerian online webiste "An-Nahar" stated, "Spiteful and misleading parties have spread fake, and baseless news about the passage of the Zionist plane through Algerian airspace."

On the other hand, the Moroccan newspaper "Al-Sahifah" confirmed that the flight between Tel Aviv and Rabat avoided entering the airspace of North African countries.

It is worth mentioing that, on Tuesday, the first direct commercial flight between Israel and Morocco landed in the Moroccan capital Rabat.

The flight comes after the two countries agreed to establish full diplomatic relations in a US-brokered peace deal, which was signed earlier this month.

US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and Israeli National Security Adviser Meir Ben Shabbat were on board of the Israeli flight to Rabat, where they are expected to sign a series of agreements.

They are also scheduled to meet with Morocco’s King Mohammed VI, who has said Morocco will remain an advocate for Palestinians.
