Report: Sisi, Biden Discuss Palestinian Issue

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and US President Joe Biden discussed on Thursday the developments of the Palestinian issue and tackled means of cooperation in order to stop the violence and escalation.

"The US President expressed his appreciation for the tireless efforts of Sisi that he has been exerting with all parties related to the issue," said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Biden deemed Egypt's Sisi efforts "balanced and wise moves" in order to achieve regional security and peace. "The US administration supports these moves and relies on them to contain the current escalation and stop the violence," Rady added.

The US president also affirmed his country’s aspiration to enhance bilateral relations with Egypt during the next stage in order to enable the two countries to face unprecedented challenges regionally and internationally.

For his part, Sisi stressed, during the call, the importance of the strategic partnership relations between Egypt and the United States spanning long decades in achieving the common interests of the two friendly countries and facing common challenges.

"The crises that threaten the security and stability of the entire region require strengthening cooperation and regular consultations between Egypt and the United States to ward off those dangers," Sisi manifested.

With regard to developments in the Palestinian territories, he stressed the importance of all international efforts at the present time to contain the dangerous escalation in the Palestinian territories, stressing on Egypt's steadfast position in this regard to reach a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue that guarantees the legitimate and natural rights of the Palestinian people like all peoples of the world in establishing their state according to international references, and then ending the chronic state of violence and tension in the region and achieving security and stability.

The spokesman pointed out that Sisi and Biden agreed to continue regular consultations and exchange of views, as well as to enhance fruitful mutual coordination between the relevant bodies between the two countries during the coming period to contain the escalation of the situation, as well as to discuss issues of common interest at various bilateral, regional and international levels.
