Renowned Egypt’s painter pioneer Gazbia Sirry, who is one of the most successful rare Arab female artists that proved their efficiency in the art world and one of the best ones, died on Thursday morning at the age of 96.

Following her death, Ashraf Reda, the well-known artist, wrote an extensive obituary for Sirry, saying the art lost Sirry who is one of the most acclaimed painters alongside Tahia Halim, and Engi Aflton in the second generation.

In the same vein, he cited her as one of the more avant-garde artists who live around here.

The Egyptian legendary painter started her college studies in the art sector and then became an instructor of photography and oil paintings, and after a while, she moved to Europe (Paris, Roma, London) in the 1950s to study new approaches in the art there.

Sirry's projects are characterized by their dynamic formal qualities of flat shapes or soothing and calming muted colors strata.

This sums up as a kind of unique style, which is a sensuous, more vibrant, and engaging type of art.

In the same connection, the late renowned Italian art critic Carmeni Sincalco described Sirry as “one of the benchmarks of Egyptian Civilization” and said she was an “incredibly rare successful Egyptian artist female that proved their efficiency in the art world."

Sirry is also well-known for some of her seminal artworks that are distinguished for their innovation in expressing the feelings and traditions of the Egyptian woman and farmers during the era of the colonial period.
