French coach Hervé Renard has officially announced his departure as head coach of Tunisia, ending speculation over his future with the Carthage Eagles following the team's elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Renard confirmed his decision in an Instagram Story posted on his official account, saying he had declined to remain in the role and had turned down a long-term contract proposed by the Tunisian Football Federation. He also thanked federation officials and the players for their support during his time in charge.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Tunisian Football Federation for giving me the opportunity to lead the national team at the 2026 World Cup. It was an unforgettable experience," Renard wrote.

He added: "I wish the Tunisia national team every success. I am confident its future is bright and that it will continue to make its fans proud and achieve success in the competitions ahead."

Concluding his message, Renard said: "Thank you to everyone who shared this journey with me. I wish you all the best in the challenges ahead."

Renard was appointed Tunisia head coach on June 16, succeeding Sabri Lamouchi on a short-term contract that ran through the end of the team's 2026 World Cup campaign. The Tunisian Football Federation brought him in after the team's difficult start to the tournament.

Tunisia exited the World Cup in the group stage, bringing Renard's brief spell with the Carthage Eagles to an end. The federation is now expected to begin the search for a new head coach ahead of upcoming competitions, including the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
