Monday marks the national day to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. in the United States. He is one of the international figures of social justice and civil rights movements.

He fought hard against all kinds of discrimination and inequality; he opposed all forms of injustice against the colored or African Americans.

Moreover, King called for their rights through a number of peaceful protests and gathering to urge the government to stop all forms of violence against the colored.

The leader formed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), which was committed to achieving full equality for African Americans through peaceful protest.

The main slogan of the movement was “Not one hair of one head of one person should be harmed.”

King participated in various events such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the March event on Washington.

March in Washington helped to bring the act of the Civil Rights Act, and the Voting Rights Act.

The activist was the youngest leader to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 which is now nationally known as Martin Luther King Jr. Day since 1986.

"I Have a Dream" is one of the most inspirational speeches in the history of humanity. One of the most quoted lines is: “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed — we hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.”
