Real Oviedo have rejected an opening offer from French club Lens for Egyptian international Haitham Hassan, insisting that any club interested in signing the winger must meet his full €12 million release clause.
According to Spanish journalist Joan Vázquez, Lens submitted an offer worth €7.5 million, but the newly promoted La Liga side immediately turned it down.
Oviedo are unwilling to negotiate a lower fee, believing Hassan's market value has risen significantly following his impressive performances for Egypt at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Hassan attracted widespread attention during the tournament after providing the assist for Egypt's second goal against Argentina. He also created another goal that was later ruled out following a VAR review, despite Egypt eventually being eliminated by the world champions.
The club's firm stance is also influenced by a sell-on agreement with Villarreal, who are entitled to 40% of any future transfer fee, making Oviedo determined to receive the full value of the release clause before sanctioning a move.
The 24-year-old featured in 38 matches for Real Oviedo last season, registering three assists while playing a key role in the club's promotion campaign, performances that have now placed him on the radar of several European clubs during the summer transfer window.
