Real Madrid have confirmed that Argentine midfielder Nico Paz will remain at Italian side Como for the 2026-27 season after the two clubs reached an agreement to extend his stay in Serie A.
The 21-year-old, who is currently representing Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, requested to continue his development with Como after enjoying a breakthrough campaign that helped the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history.
In an official statement, Real Madrid announced that the agreement allows Paz to stay at Como for another season while the Spanish giants retain a unilateral buy-back option that can be activated ahead of the 2027-28 campaign.
“Hi Comaschi, I am very happy to be able to announce that I will stay at Como another year with you. I'm really excited, and I can't wait to start the new season and see you all back at the stadium. Paz, a product of Real Madrid's academy, joined Como in August 2024 and quickly established himself as one of Serie A's standout performers.
His impressive displays earned him the league's Best Midfielder award and attracted renewed interest from his parent club.
The decision also gives Real Madrid greater flexibility in midfield as the club evaluates its squad under new head coach José Mourinho.
Following Dani Ceballos' departure, Madrid still have Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham, Arda Güler, and new signing Bernardo Silva available in midfield.
Explaining his decision, Paz said remaining at Como was the best move for both his career and Real Madrid's long-term plans.
"After many weeks of reflection, I believe staying at Como for another year is the best option for my development," Paz said.
"This club has given me the opportunity to grow and become the player I am today. It's an important stage in my career, and I want to continue improving and prepare myself in the best possible way for the future."
