Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Real Betis for the transfer of left-back Fran Garcia in a deal worth €4 million, according to reports from Spanish media.
The agreement will see Betis acquire 50 percent of the 26-year-old defender's economic rights, while Real Madrid will retain the remaining half. The arrangement ensures that the Spanish giants will receive 50 percent of any future transfer fee if Betis decide to sell Garcia.
The report adds that Garcia has already agreed personal terms with the Seville-based club and is set to sign a four-year contract running until June 2030.
The move comes after Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini identified the Spanish full-back as a priority target to strengthen the left side of his defense ahead of the new season.
Garcia is expected to complete his medical examination and officially finalize the transfer in the coming hours.
The defender returned to Real Madrid from Rayo Vallecano in the summer of 2023 after the club activated a €5 million buyback clause. However, he struggled to secure regular playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu, falling behind Alvaro Carreras, Ferland Mendy and summer signing Marc Cucurella in the pecking order.
The transfer also represents another profitable piece of business for Real Madrid, who have generated more than €100 million this summer through the sales of academy graduates and squad players.
With Garcia entering the final year of his contract, the move allows Real Madrid to secure a transfer fee while maintaining a financial stake in the player's future development.
