Saudi national day, also known as Al-Yaom-ul-Watany, is celebrated every year on September 23 to commemorate the renaming of the country from the “Kingdom of Nejd Hejaz” to the “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” by Saudi Arabia King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, on Sept. 23, 1932.

To mark this special occasion, the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA) will host several concerts performed by Arab world major performers for 5 days at the King Abdullah Sports City.

The concerts will also feature the performance of Angham, Mohamed Hamaki, Tamer Ashour,  Rashed al-Majed, Aseel Abu Bakr, Majid al-Muhandis, Abadi al-Johar, Dalia Mubarak, and Rabih Saqer.

Meanwhile, the 58-year-old singing legend will resume acting after a 27-year hiatus with an Arabic original series for Netflix.

The production, currently untitled, will be a musical drama, which is under development.

“I am thrilled to work with Netflix on this new project. I have always believed that art is a global language, and we have been able to build bridges of connections and love with perse cultures through music,” Diab said.

The 58-year-old singing legend co-starred in three films “El Afareet”, “Ice Cream in Gleam”, and “Dehk Wa Le’b Wa Gad Wa Hob”.

He co-starred as himself in his first film, “El Afareet” — released in 1989 — with prominent Egyptian actress, Madiha Kamel.

In 1992, Diab starred in his second film “Ice Cream in Gleam”, which was chosen as one of the best five Egyptian musical films by the “UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television”.

The bestselling artist’s third film “Dehk Wa Le’b Wa Gad Wa Hob” came out in 1993, co-starring international Egyptian star Omar Sharif and prominent Egyptian actress Yousra.

Despite the films’ success, Diab did not experience the same level of success in acting as he had with his music. He has focused on his singing career since 1993.
