On Sunday, a rare Blood Moon will shine as it will appear during two special phenomena: total lunar eclipse, and supermoon.

The Blood Moon will shine during one of the eclipse stages when the moon stands before the shadow of the Earth which hides the rays of the sun in a certain way, making the reflected rays on the moon paint it in red.

Moreover, tomorrow's moon will be in its closest point to the Earth, so tomorrow's Blood Moon will also be a super red one.

It is worthy to mention the Director of the National Research Institute of Astronomy & Geophysics (NRIAG) Dr. Gad El Kady said last week that the lunar eclipse will start at 3:32 am Cairo time as Penumbral lunar eclipse which can’t be easily observed by the naked eye as it requires highly clean air.

At 5: 29 am Cairo time, the phenomenon will turn to be a partial lunar eclipse, before it reaches its climax at 6:11 am when the Earth blocks 141,4% of the moon’s surface.

The lunar eclipse will end at 8:50 am in Cairo time, which means that Egypt won’t see the full stages of the total lunar eclipse as the moon will set at 5:01 am Cairo time.

On the other hand, people in Africa, Europe, the Americas, Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the Antarctica can observe the phenomenon.

The whole stages of the lunar eclipse will last for five hours, and 19 minutes.
