Egyptian footballer Ramadan Sobhi, a player for Pyramids FC, is set to be released after completing legal procedures at Abu Al-Nomros Police Station, following a court decision that upheld his suspended prison sentence in a forgery case.
Sobhi was transferred from Zeinhom Court to the police station to verify his legal status and ensure he was not wanted in any other pending cases. His legal team has since begun final procedures for his release.
Earlier on the same day, the Giza Criminal Court of Appeal upheld a one-year prison sentence with suspension, confirming the verdict issued by the court of first instance. The ruling relates to Sobhi’s involvement in the forgery of an official document at a private tourism and hotel institute in the Abu Al-Nomros area.
The appeal court reviewed the challenge submitted by Sobhi’s defense against the initial ruling, which sentenced him to one year in prison with hard labor. After deliberation, the court confirmed the conviction while maintaining the suspension of the sentence, meaning the player will not serve jail time unless further legal violations occur.
