The death toll in some of the Yemeni provinces rose to at least 13 people on Sunday after several days of heavy rains triggered flash flooding that swamped farms and residential areas, Yemeni media reported.

The Yemeni government said: "children are among the victims and a number of citizens are missing and in many places, people are busy pulling out bodies from the ruins."

According to an official statement by Yemen’s authorities, they said that Sanaa, Ibb, Shabwa, and Hodeida were affected by flash floods triggered by heavy rains and flash floods.

Meanwhile, the flash floods destroyed crops causing thousands of Yemeni Riyal in damages and raising vegetable prices in farmer's markets.

In 2020, flooding in Yemen left dozens dead and forced tens of thousands to leave their homes.
