As the world is under lockdown, and self-quarantine to fight and phase out the Covid-19 pandemic, which has claimed millions of people’s lives and wrecked global economies, here comes another virus called "racism", which is likely to undermine the efforts exerted by world leaders.

Director-General of the World Health Organization Mr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at last has given up on his silence after having sleepless nights contemplating on how to engage and deal with two battles at the same time: Covid-19 and racism.

Mr Tedros has disclosed some unfortunate information on another virus called ‘racism’, from Taiwan, which can as well be worse than COVID-19.

The director, an Ethiopian microbiologist and internationally recognized malaria researcher, is accusing some countries and specifically Taiwan for calling him names: African, Negro and so on.

This has been going on according to Mr Tedros for three months without responding, and he decided to disclose it to the world.

‘You can call me Negro, African, I don’t take a damn, in fact I am a proud African, so whatever slurs you are using on me cannot put me off my mission”.

Tedros reiterated that his main goal is to see to it that plastic bodies stop and cannot take time thinking about racist elements while humanity is under threat.

The global cases of covid-19 stands at 1,487870 million people infected and 88,630 dead.

Dr Tedros has been on the helm of the world’s hottest post for a while, he is being accused by some Taiwan officials for being inactive, and for his failure to quickly coordinate with other member countries to curb this Covid-19, the argument, which he vehemently denies.

Taiwan has termed the director’s accusations of racism as untrue and requested for immediate apology from Mr Tedro’s office.

African Union under the chairmanship of President Cyril Ramaphosa, has put its weight behind the W.H.O Boss, and the presidency says it supports all the work and efforts of the world health body under its current leadership.

Former US, Ambassador to Tanzania, now residing in South Africa, has slammed those who are accusing the WHO Director General, and said that, ‘You can point someone with one finger forgetting that the other three are appointing at you’. Hence, urging those countries that are fighting the so called ‘Negro’ Tedros to be more responsible.

This comes at a time when the US under president Trump is threatening to cut its financial support to WHO accusing it for being so much ‘China-centric’.

America is going through challenging times to try and control the spread of covid-19 which stands at 432,438 cases and closer to 14,808 deaths country wide, putting it at position one globally behind Spain and Italy .

It is worthy to note that U.S is the number one financier of the WHO.
