The city of Rabat is set to host the 77th FIFA Congress on March 18, 2027, marking another milestone that highlights Morocco’s growing influence on the global football stage.
The announcement was made during the 76th FIFA Congress held in Vancouver, where FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed Morocco as the next host of the key electoral gathering. The decision reflects increasing confidence in the country’s organizational capabilities and experience in staging major international events.
Infantino also revealed his intention to run for a fourth term covering the 2027 to 2031 cycle, signaling a significant political moment within FIFA ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Morocco’s selection builds on its expanding role in international football, particularly after FIFA opened a permanent regional office in Rabat in 2025, reinforcing the country’s position as a key hub for the governing body in Africa.
This will be the second time Morocco hosts a FIFA Congress, having previously staged the event in Marrakesh in 2005, underlining continued international trust in the nation’s infrastructure and logistical readiness.
The congress in Vancouver saw wide participation from member associations, including a delegation from the Egyptian Football Association led by Hany Abo Rida, a FIFA Council member.
On the sidelines, Infantino confirmed ongoing preparations for the 2026 World Cup, noting the participation of several national teams, including Iran national football team, as planning continues for the tournament.
FIFA also approved its 2025 annual report, with projections pointing to a record budget of up to $14 billion for the 2027 to 2030 cycle, aimed at expanding football development and investment worldwide.
