A few hours ago, Queen Elizabeth II made a historical comment on the vaccination rollout against COVID-19 in the UK.

The queen's comment came in a video call with NHS. She encouraged everyone who has doubts, saying: "Think about other people rather than themselves."

She added that receiving the vaccine "didn't hurt at all," in addition, she feels "protected," that's why the monarch urged everyone to have the vaccine.

"Once you've had the vaccine you have a feeling of, you know, you're protected, which is I think very important.  And I think the other thing is that it is obviously difficult for people if they've never had a vaccine ... but they ought to think about other people rather than themselves."

Speaking from Windsor Castle, the 94-year-old monarch asserted: "It was quite harmless. It was very quick, and I've had lots of letters from people who've been very surprised by how easy it was to get the vaccine. And the jab was very ... it didn't hurt at all."

Kicked off last December, UK was the earliest country that launched a wide-nation vaccination campaign against COVID-19, Queen Elizabeth II, and Prince Philip received the COVID-19 vaccine last month.

However, a number of senior royals volunteered and supported vaccination rollout in the kingdom such as the Countess of Wessex who is currently a St. John Ambulance volunteer at a vaccination centre among 10,000 volunteers.

such as the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, who thanked volunteers and key workers in the campaign.

Earlier this week Prince William underscored: "I'd be at the front of the queue if I could, just to prove that it's OK, but I have to wait my turn."

The total number of vaccinated people against COVID-19 in the UK reached 18 million persons.
