Qatar is actively pursuing the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to assist Palestinian refugees compelled to flee the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing conflict.

This vital initiative was announced by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, during a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Doha.

Emphasizing the immediate priorities of securing a ceasefire, safeguarding civilian lives, and securing the release of hostages, Al Thani and Blinken explored the possibility of opening humanitarian corridors.

These corridors would facilitate the delivery of essential humanitarian aid to Gaza and allow for the safe passage of civilian prisoners from Israel.

The prime minister underscored Qatar's commitment to creating conducive conditions for resolving the Israel-Palestine situation, driven by concerns that the conflict could escalate and engulf the entire region.

The Middle East witnessed heightened tensions when Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip launched attacks on Israeli territory in response to Israeli actions around Jerusalem's Temple Mount, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israel subsequently imposed a comprehensive blockade on the Gaza Strip and initiated airstrikes on the enclave, as well as some areas in Lebanon and Syria.
