Qatar Stars League side Qatar SC are reportedly interested in signing Al Ahly and Morocco national team centre-back Badr Benoun.

Benoun arrived in Al Ahly from Raja Casablanca back in 2020, and his first year with the Red Devils was full of success, making a name for himself as a regular starter and becoming a fan favorite.

The Towering centre-back led Al Ahly to the 2021 CAF Champions League, back-to-back CAF Super Cups, and the 2020 Egypt Cup.

However, the last few months saw the 28-year-old fall down the pecking order after suffering severe heart complications from COVID-19, forcing him to be sidelined for months.

As a result, Benoun missed out on a number of important games for Al Ahly including their entire run in the 2021 Club World Cup and their 2022 CAF Champions League campaign.

This season, Benoun played just 11 games and hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes since December 26 when the Reds played out a 1-1 draw with Future FC.

This led to rumours of Benoun departing Cairo soon as Al Ahly would like to free a spot in their foreign quota ahead of next season.

And it looks like Qatari outfit Qatar SC got aware of the situation as they have reportedly submitted a bid of $2.5m for the player’s services, which could rise up to $3m with bonuses.
