Qatar is a step closer to host the rugby's Nations Championship, according to reports on Tuesday.
Last month Doha’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy proposed an £800 million ($1 billion) for an-eight-year deal to bring the six-match finals series to Qatar starting from 2026.
The rugby competition will feature the current Six Nations: England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy and France; the Sanzaar union: South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina – and two other teams. The expected teams are Fiji and Japan.
The tournament would take place over three days.
In addition, Lusail Stadium, which hosted the FIFA World Cup final in 2022, could be the major venue for the games.
