Egyptian Pyramids FC and Future FC clubs kicked off their campaign in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup with home and away draws respectively on Saturday.
Pyramids FC failed to make use of the home advantage as they held to 2-2 draw with FAR Rabat of Morocco at the Air Defence Stadium in the first round of Group C games.
Mostafa Fathi needed only one minute to give Pyramids FC an early lead after scoring a snappy goal from inside the area thanks to a brilliant assist from left-back Mohamed Hamdi.
FAR Rabat forward Diney Borges scored the equalizer in the 26th minute.
In the second half, Mostafa Sahd doubled the score for FAR Rabat in the 73rd minute, but winger Abdallah El-Said notched the equalizer two minutes later to finish the game a 2-2 draw between the two sides.
Pyramids FC booked their place in the group stage of Africa's secondary club competition after beating Nigelec of Nifer 3-1 on aggregate.
Elsewhere, Egyptian Premier League black horse, Future FC started their mission in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage with a 1-1 away draw at ASKO de Kara of Togo also on Saturday.
ASKO de Kara winger Kangnivi Ama Tchoutchoui secured an early lead only three minutes from the start, while winger Mohamed Farouk scored the equalizer ten minutes before the final whistle.
Future FC secured their place in the competition’s Group stage after defeating Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto 3-2 on a shoot-out.
