Pyramids FC secured a major 3-0 win over Al Ahly on Monday evening at the Air Defense Stadium, in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League title phase.

The victory lifted Pyramids to 47 points, placing them second in the standings behind leaders Zamalek SC, who sit on 50 points. Al Ahly remain third with 44 points following the defeat.

After a goalless first half in which both sides exchanged spells of pressure, Pyramids gradually gained control. Al Ahly initially started brightly, pressing early, but Pyramids soon responded and neutralized their opponent’s attacking rhythm.

The breakthrough came in the 69th minute when Fiston Mayele capitalized on a defensive mistake to put Pyramids ahead. He struck again in the 77th minute, doubling the lead and putting his team firmly in control.

Al Ahly thought they had equalized in the 73rd minute through Mahmoud Trezeguet, but the goal was disallowed by VAR for offside, denying the visitors a crucial comeback moment.

Deep into stoppage time, Pyramids sealed the result when Karim Hafez converted a penalty in the 94th minute after a late foul inside the box.

The match also saw several key moments, including missed chances for Al Ahly’s Ahmed Sayed Zizo and a series of defensive interventions that kept Pyramids ahead after their opening goal.

The result marks a significant setback for Al Ahly in the title race, while Pyramids strengthen their position as strong contenders behind league leaders Zamalek.
