Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed on Tuesday that despite Russia's preoccupation with implementing the special military operation in Ukraine, it still pays special attention to what is happening in Palestine.
Putin said - during his meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Moscow -: "Everyone now realizes that Russia must defend its interests and its people using weapons. However, we pay special attention to what is happening in the Middle East and in Palestine," according to the Russian news agency "TASS".
He stressed that Russia has strong ties with the Arab world in general and Palestine in particular, noting that Moscow has always supported a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and that Russia's position on the Palestinian issue is firm and has not changed.
He added: "We are certain that in order to achieve lasting and stable peace in the region, it is necessary to implement the UN resolutions and establish a Palestinian state first and foremost."
