Putin thanks Trump for supporting resumption of direct talks between Russia, Ukraine

Russian president Putin said: "My colleagues asked me to say a few words about the results of our phone conversation with the President of the United States."

He added: " Indeed, this conversation took place and lasted more than two hours. I would like to point out that it was very informative and very frank. Overall, in my opinion, it was very useful in this regard."

Putin said that he thanked the President of the United States for the United States' support for the resumption of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine regarding a possible peace agreement.

As he noted that The President of the United States made clear his position on the cessation of hostilities and a ceasefire, and "I, for my part, also noted that Russia also supports a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis," Putin stressed.

" We agreed with the President of the United States that Russia would propose and is willing to work with the Ukrainian side on a memorandum on a possible future peace treaty that would set out a number of points, such as the principles of settlement, the timing of a possible peace agreement, etc., including a possible ceasefire for a certain period of time if appropriate agreements are reached."
