Putin: Russia Doesn't Object Ukraine's Accession to EU

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that his country does not object to Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU).

"Putin added that Moscow has nothing against it, it is the sovereign decision of every country to join or not to join economic alliances," Putin's statements came when he told the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.

The Russian President  continued that  the European Union, unlike the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), is not a military organization, nor a political alliance."

He stressed that Ukraine had to decide whether its membership was in the interest of the European Union or not.

Putin made it clear that the economic structure of Ukraine will need very large support for the reconstruction in the coming years.
