Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call on Friday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, reiterating Moscow’s firm position calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East.
The Kremlin said in a statement that during the call, both leaders emphasized Russia’s principled stance supporting an urgent end to military escalation, rejecting coercive approaches to resolving conflicts in Iran and the broader Middle East, and advocating a rapid return to political and diplomatic solutions.
The statement also noted that President Putin highlighted his ongoing communication with leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
According to the Kremlin, Putin and Pezeshkian agreed to continue contacts through multiple diplomatic channels in the coming period.
