On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin told Wang Yi, China's top diplomat, that relations between Moscow and Beijing are "reaching new milestones."

"Relations between Russia and China are progressing as anticipated in prior years. During a meeting at the Kremlin, Putin stated that everything was progressing and developing, and that we were hitting new milestones.

The Russian president continued: "International relations are complicated today; they did not get better when the bipolar system broke down. They have actually gotten more tense.

On commerce, Putin stated that "as we have repeatedly stated, cooperation in the international arena between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China is very vital for stabilising the world situation."

Wang Yi gave a succinct and direct reaction on television. Wang Yi promises that China-Russian relations will withstand pressure from other nations with the help of a translator.

The two nations are prepared to intensify their strategic cooperation, he continues.

Wang Yi declares in a cordial tone that Beijing is prepared to deepen its relationship with Moscow for the benefit of the two nations as well as the entire globe.

The West has closely followed Wang's visit to Moscow amid worries that the two countries' continued closeness may have an impact on the Ukrainian War, which is getting close to its one-year anniversary.

China has asserted its neutrality over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but it has declined to express its disapproval and has repeated Kremlin talking points that NATO is to blame for starting the conflict.

Putin declared on Tuesday that Russia would continue its year-long conflict in Ukraine, emphasising that "defeating Russia is unthinkable."

Under the false conviction that it could beat Russia in a global fight, he charged that the NATO alliance, which is led by the United States, was stoking the fires of the conflict.

In his national address to the assembled joint houses of the Russian parliament, Putin said that Russia would “carefully and consistently resolve the tasks facing us” in Ukraine.
