Former British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson said, in a BBC documentary, that Russian President Vladimir Putin "threatened him in some way" before the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
Johnson explained that Putin told him, "With a missile, it will take one minute," according to AFP.
In the 3-part documentary, which BBC broadcasts its first episode on Monday evening, Johnson recounts his "very long" and "extraordinary" call with the Russian President after his visit to Kyiv at the beginning of last February.
At the time, Putin continued to stress that he had no intention of "invading" his neighbor, despite the massive influx of Russian soldiers into the border regions.
Johnson indicated that he had warned Putin of the harsh penalties that Westerners might take if he embarked on this path.
“Putin said: ‘Boris, you’re saying Ukraine isn’t going to join NATO any time soon, but what do you mean by ‘any time soon?’” Johnson recounts.
