Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in the Chinese city of Tianjin on Sunday to take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, which is set to begin within hours.

According to Channel News Asia, Putin is expected to hold talks on Monday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, focusing on the conflict in Ukraine and Iran’s nuclear program.

Earlier, Putin stated that this summit would strengthen the SCO’s ability to respond to global challenges and threats, while also contributing to the formation of a fairer international order.

The SCO brings together China, India, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus, along with 16 other observer states and dialogue partners.

Hosted in Tianjin, northern China, the summit will run over two days on the banks of the Haihe River. It will bring together leaders from more than 20 countries and the heads of 10 international organizations, making it the largest gathering in the history of the SCO.
