Putin and Macron Concerned about Extremists in Karabakh

Today, the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the French President Emmanuel Macron expressed their concern about the militias involved in Karabakh.

The Kremlin announced in a statement issued that Putin and Macron discussed the latest developments in the Karabakh conflict in a phone call conducted by the French side.

The Kremlin added, "The two sides expressed their deep concern about the continuation of conflicts in Karabakh zone and the inclusion of mercenaries from Syria and Libya in it."

The statement indicated that Putin informed his French counterpart of the Russian role to stop the war in Karabakh and find a political and diplomatic solution to end the conflict.

Both France and Russia expressed their desire to mediate to settle the conflict, especially within the framework of the Minsk Group.

Putin and Macron also stated their determination to fight terrorism, due to the terrorist attacks that France witnessed.

Putin and Macron also indicated their positions towards the developments in Libya, calling for normalizing the situation in the country as soon as possible.

The two presidents discussed the Ukrainian crisis, stressing the implementation of the Minsk agreements and all agreements of the "Normandy Quartet", at the Paris Summit 2019.

The two presidents also reviewed the bilateral cooperation between Russia and France in various fields, expressing the interest of Moscow and Paris to cooperate in combating the emerging Coronavirus.
