A highly anticipated European clash takes place Wednesday night as Paris Saint-Germain will host Chelsea FC at the Parc des Princes in Paris in the first leg of the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.

The encounter carries a revenge storyline, marking the first meeting between the two sides since the FIFA Club World Cup Final 2025, when English star Cole Palmer led Chelsea to a convincing 3–0 victory in the United States.

That result could provide the London club with a psychological edge heading into the new European battle.

PSG head into the match as the defending champions but endured a challenging league phase this season, finishing 11th and failing to qualify directly for the knockout stage.

The French side struggled for consistency, recording just one win in their last five matches in the league phase, along with two draws and two defeats.

Domestically, PSG have also experienced mixed results.

Meanwhile, Chelsea arrive in Paris after a solid league phase, finishing sixth among 36 teams with five wins, one draw, and two defeats.

Recent performances have been somewhat inconsistent, but the London side has secured five victories in their last nine matches across all competitions.

Chelsea are currently led by head coach Liam Rosenior, who is aiming to balance domestic ambitions with a deep run in Europe’s premier competition, which the club last won in 2021.
