Paris Saint-Germain secured a dramatic 5-4 victory over Bayern Munich in a thrilling first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal at Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.
The visitors struck first through Harry Kane, who converted a penalty in the 17th minute. PSG responded quickly, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia leveling the score in the 24th minute before João Neves added a second in the 33rd. Bayern pulled level again through Michael Olise in the 41st minute.
Just before halftime, Ousmane Dembélé converted another penalty to give PSG a 3-2 lead heading into the break.
PSG extended their advantage early in the second half, with Kvaratskhelia and Dembélé each scoring their second goals in quick succession in the 56th and 58th minutes, making it 5-2.
Bayern mounted a late comeback as Dayot Upamecano and Luis Díaz scored in the 65th and 68th minutes, but the German side fell just short of completing the turnaround.
The return leg is set to take place at Allianz Arena on May 6, with qualification to the final still wide open. The winner will face either Arsenal or Atlético Madrid in the final.
PSG, the defending champions, entered the clash on high confidence after eliminating Liverpool in the quarterfinals, while Bayern advanced past Real Madrid in another high scoring tie.
